During the past year, Linda Lindquist piloted a basic computer training program – Learn Computer 101 – teaching basic Windows concepts. This program was designed for senior citizens who feel “computer illiterate”. The program was well-received. At the end of the year, my students felt more comfortable using and understanding how to make their computers more usable for them.
Linda has 15 years experience working with senior citizens, and understanding their computer challenges. She developed a clean and concise curriculum and presented the lessons in a simple fashion to make the concepts understandable for senior citizens.
This year-long program is being offered again this year, starting on the fourth Friday of each month from 1 – 2 PM. The first lesson is August 25th. Topics include:
l Taskbar
l Start menu
l Destop
l Browsers
l Bookmarks
l File management
l Minimize / maximise / close Windows
l Passwords
l E-mail
l Software updates
l Internet and Wi-Fi
l Computer security
The training is conducted over Zoom – you sit in front of your computer – no travel required.
Once you enroll, you receive:
l An email with the zoom link on the 4th Wednesday of the month
l A lesson plan each month
l A video replay after each Zoom session (in case you missed some or all of a lesson)
l A Glossary of Computer terms and what they mean (bonus)
l Ability to attend Open Office Hours on 2nd Friday from 1 – 2 PM (no extra charge)
The price is just $25 a month for a year or if paid in full, $250 for the entire year (2 lessons free).
