Cyber-criminals are running a scam to gain access to your computers and take your money.
The scam starts with an unsolicited phone call pretending to be from Comcast or Centurylink, your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Supposedly, there is a dangerous security problem with your modem / router that the caller must diagnose and correct by gaining access to your computer. The caller gives you enough information about your service to sound legitimate. They offer to replace your ‘defective’ modem and will reverse the shipping charges if you log onto your online banking or give them your credit card number.
Beware of this scam. Your ISP does not call you. If you get a call from your ISP, tell them you will call your ISP directly. Then hang up. If you have ever had to call your ISP for internet support, you have experienced long hold times because their tech support is very busy.
I am committed to protect your computers at an affordable price. Thank you for trusting me to keep your computers healthy. Contact us at 239-567-0104 when it is time to renew your protection software, or if you need computer and internet help. Be well.
