Think before you give away any of your personal information online or over the phone.  Especially if the e-mail, web site or call is unsolicited by you.

Pop-up ads, scam e-mails, and fraudulent phone calls are often disguised as something that seems real – such as a notification to renew security software – in order to lure you into giving away your personal information.

If you are ever asked to enter passwords, credit card numbers, or other personal information from an unknown e-mail sender, an unfamiliar web site, or ab unsolicited caller, take extra care that you know exactly who is requesting the information and why.

Cleaning up stolen identity or fraudulent charges is no fun and can be costly for you.  Think before giving away your personal information.
