- Often your outer gets ‘stuck’ due to a power surge. Rebooting your router is the easiest way to fix this: Unplug the power from the router (the cord is plugged into he back of the router); count to 30; plug power back into the router; let it cycle back up. Try your internet again.
- You can test the speed of your internet service yourself. Open a browser window and type in: https://www.speedtest.net Click GO and record ping / download and upload speeds.
- Some of my clients use CenturyLink for their internet service, and still have a 660 modem. This equipment has reached the end of their support lifecycle an some have started to fail. CenturyLink is happy to replace this equipment with a modern modem/router.
- If your internet is still slow or not working, call technical support of your internet service provider. Their phone number is on your bill.
- If you are considering changing your internet service provider (say from CenturyLink to Comcast for a better deal or faster service), BE AWARE that your may lose your proprietary email address (e.g., xxx@embarqmail.com) and your address book of contacts. Before making the change, export your contacts to a file, and consider getting a free email address (e.g., xxx@gmail.com). Once your contact list is gone, there is no getting it back.
