When you connect your cell phone to Bluetooth in an automobile for “hands free calling,” you may have downloaded your address book / contact list to the stored memory of the vehicle.
This is OK and convenient for making calls if it is your vehicle. However, if it is a rental car or you are selling your car, you may be making your contact list accessible to the next driver of the car.
Before selling your vehicle or turning in a rental car, erase your contacts from the vehicle’s saved memory. Ask an employee at the rental car agency or car dealer how to do this.
