Bad Habits That Will Dull Your Mind
Do you sometimes feel like your mind is becoming increasingly dull as the days go on? This dulling could be because you are engaging in bad habits, causing your mind to deteriorate slowly. Below are the most common habits you may be engaging in that are dulling your mind without realizing it.
Eating Poorly
Although eating poorly is often easier and cheaper, it can really affect your mental health and overall well-being. Instead of filling your diet with fatty, salty, and sugary foods, you need to work to put as many healthy fruits and vegetables in your body as possible. Not only will this help your mental health, but your physical health as well.
Not Sleeping Enough
It can be oh so tempting to skimp out on the sleep and watch one more episode of your favorite show in the age of Netflix. But the less sleep you get, the duller your mind can become. The average adult needs to get between 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. Keep in mind that this can be difficult if there are digital distractions in the bedroom. So, it is best to eliminate these things and keep the bedroom just for sleeping.
Too Much Screen Time
Besides just affecting your sleep, spending too much time behind screens could also be dulling your mind. This is because reading information on social media or constantly scrolling clickbait isn’t helping your mind grow in the slightest. Instead, it’s time to switch out your screen reading time for actually reading a non-fiction book or going outside for some exercise.
Couch Potato Lifestyle
This habit brings us to our last point. If you aren’t getting out to exercise and are spending too much time in a sedentary lifestyle, you could be at risk of dulling your mind. When you are active, your body uses your blood to deliver oxygen to the brain. If you are just sitting there, you might not be delivering the oxygen your brain needs to stay sharp.
In conclusion, the prospect of having a dull mind can be a scary topic. Don’t fear, though, as long as you cut out the above bad habits, you will be well on your way to leading a life in which your brain is healthy, oxygenated, and certainly not in the least bit dull.
