How to Copy and Paste on Your Computer: A simple guide with real-life examples
Copying and pasting is one of the most helpful skills you can learn on a computer. Whether you’re saving a recipe, sharing a link, or writing a flyer, this guide will show you how to do it—step by step.

Method 1: Using Your Mouse
This method works in email, Word, websites, and more.
To Copy:
- Move your mouse to the beginning of the text.
- Click and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag across the text to highlight it.
- Release the button.
- Right-click on the highlighted area.
- Choose “Copy”.
To Paste:
- Move your mouse to where you want to paste.
- Right-click in that spot.
- Choose “Paste”.
Method 2: Using Keyboard Shortcuts

To Copy:
- Press Ctrl + C (Windows) or Command + C (Mac)
To Paste:
