Save Your Passwords

WHY: Isn’t it most frustrating when you cannot get into your e-mail or other websites because you cannot remember your passwords!! Face it, we are not getting any younger. Plus the number of passwords seems to be growing exponentially!
It is not a good idea to use the same password for all of your websites, because once a scammer hacks one website, they try that e-mail and password combination on other common websites.
Should you get a new computer or other device, you will need to log in with your user IDs and passwords for each website.
SOLUTION: Have a system to easily find your passwords again.
HOW: There are several ways to remember your passwords:
Write them down.
Not on random scraps of paper!
Use a book: one page per website, or an address book with the website listed under the alphabetical tab.
Allow your browser to save them. The next time you log in with your userid (usually your e-mail address), your password is prefilled with *****.
ADVANCED: Use password management software. You have one master password for this software, then select the website and log in from the password management software.
If all else fails, click the “I forgot my password” link on the login page, and follow the directions to reset your password.
This can get complicated, as it usually involves an e-mail or text message to get a validation code to enter into the password reset page.
If you have multiple devices (smart phone, tablet, etc.), you may have to enter the new password in each device.
Life on your computer is a lot easier if you know your passwords!!
